Good news chaps the historical aproval has been granted just one last hurdle unfortunately named the hanging period!! my wife will make sure its me swinging from the rafters first if it all goes to pot!
on another note i know you all have been losing sleep about where i am going to get flights from to izmir, well i found a site that is knocking them out this July for around £160.00 - 230.00 not bad at all. | dodo |
By the way Mac, Izmir is an hours drive from the Airport.
P | pedro 175 |
| hurrah, nearly there but not quite, we still have the heretige aproval to get past as well, there always seems to be another hurdle, hopefully this will be the last one, i cant't help thinking that 6 months is not going to be enough time to construct all the facilities they have promised on handover, maybe we may be able to barter nearer the time on paying our community fees. what happens at the handover party, i'm bringing my chainsaw to make sure we finally cut through this bloody red tape stuff. (thats if i can find any flights from Manchester on the 1st May) | dodo |
Just received this:
Great News: PENINSULA VILLAGE PLANNING HAS BEEN APPROVED BY MORDOGAN MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
Attached please find the original, signed Turkish planning consent and an English translation supplied by Gözde Gözeten, Turkish solicitor. Also attached please find a countdown to exchange document.
We at Midas Plc. would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their patience in this very long winded process and congratulate you on the savings you have made with the available discounts for purchasing in phase 1. | mac99 |
FairyBlueBell, good to hear you are staying in the project. One thing you mentioned was that you were talking to a rep who mentioned that the whole are is getting zoned for tourism, do you have or anyone has any details.
Also, can another tell me how long the trip is from Izmir airport to PV. From looking at the distance and map I am guessing an hour, am I close? | mac99 |
Like mac, we have a small family, just 1 child, and one of the things that apeals with PV is that everything is onsite, beach, shops, restaurants etc which will be so much more relaxing for everyone than having to drive all the time. We hope to make some new friends too. We were pulling out of PV as we were fed up waiting, so we have recently returned from the Med coast, where we traveled to Fethiye, Gocek, Calis, Finike , Kalkan and Kemer. It is lovely, however the property is much more expensive than PV or Bodrum, and nothing had all the facilities either, so we are back with PV, The 24 hour transport to the airport is a good point for me, as if I come alone with My son, if My husband cant get time off work I wont have to drive in Turkey at all if I dont want (I am a woos and dont drive abroad!) so that is a brilliant selling point to me.
I was talking to a spotblue rep, who says the little airport north of Izmir near Ayvalik will soon expand for tourist use. This is 3 hours from Izmir, and may be better for some people plus if the whole area is being zoned for tourism hopefully more UK airlines will Fly to Izmir

I agree with you Marybell, i spoke to Marissa on the 16th June and she had said the same thing as karin, all of the planning permission is now in and that the objection period has been cancelled therefore work will begin early July rather than late July.
There was no mention of any confirmation letter however, to me this is very good news, i think we are on the brink of the beginings of a great project, fingers crossed everyone.
P | pedro 175 |
| lets home this is it then, i cant help feeling worried though ,we havent got the 1000000-1 aproval yet or the 90000000-2 !!!! . Lets crack on i can't wait (but i may have to) | dodo |
Hi, I spoke to Karin from Midas on Wednesday 18th June, she said some paperwork had arrived, and was being translated from Turkish, I asked to speak to David, however he was busy, but was saying something to Karin. She came back to the phone, and said "weve got it" I said you mean the planning permission, she said yes, and that a letter would be coming out. She aslo said a few days ago that the Mayor of Mordagon would not allow any objections to PV because it was so good for the local workforce...so I hope is is true this time.
Last year we viewed both Sunset in Bodrum, and PV. Drive was about 4 hours, the roads are pretty good, especially from Izmir . Has anyone got the letter yet?
| FAIRYBLUEBELL |
Has anyone heard anything in the past week. I know dodo was talking to Marissa a week ago and it was still positive information. I have not heard from my selling agent so I was wondering if anyone talking directly to Midas has received any more (hopefully positive) info.
| mac99 |
| is anyone on here from the North of england ( Manchester), if so have you found anywhere to fly from to izmir ?, flights are a lot more expensive than to Bodrum and a lot less frequent, does anybody know what the transfer time would be from Bodrum? | dodo |
| spoke to Midas today, everything still moving if slowly, planning has been agreed but this has now got to be published for locals to raise objections!!! anyway its still going ahead Marissa has said they hope to be moving dirt by the 6th june but we shall see keep everything crossed and paray to any god you see fit | dodo |
Any more news, been away for a week so I have not heard anything. | mac99 |
| hi everyone hope things go smoothly for you all now. we just returned from turkey and brought a very large apartment on a lovely site as we could not wait any longer. it is up and built and the company we went with even took us to get all furniture and delivered it all in the couple of days we were there. it is on a brand new complex which opens on the 24 june and we have signed everything and even opened bank accounts.i am sure peninsula village will be lovely when it is built but we could not be happier with our purchase and we think for us it was the right decision.good luck everyone. | saabaero |
Hi mac,
Marissa is a sales rep that works for Midas Plc, the letter i mentioned i believe that everyone that is in the process of buying a property at PV should have received one. if you haven't mac then i suggest you speak to the sales rep thats dealing with your purchase to update you on matters, okay mac.
P | pedro 175 |
Thanks Pedro for the news.
By the way, what is the Newsletter, is this online on the website as I have never received one and who is Marissa, I take it a Midas Sales Exec.
Rgds,
mac99 | mac99 |
Hi Mac 99,
just spoke to Marissa, she has very good news, the news however is basicaly as written in the news letter from Dacid that we all received about a week ago(or was it longer) the exception being is that planning permission is now in place, however by law the 30 day law applies before movement can take place. Marissa believes that the phase one will be completed for April 09 and phase 2 will immediately commence.
Apparently people are still interested in PV and are continuing to snap up properties which is good news. Marissa also said that there should not be any other problems and that the timetable set will commence. I feel good hearing this because my patience was running a bit thin.
All the above again will be confirmed by mail just to make sure everyone sees the same picture regarding PV, so wait for confirmation mac. Hope this info makes you feel a bit easier mac.
Bye the way has anyone purchased an AB property, if so which ones.
Thanks
P | pedro 175 |
| When did the latest planning meeting take place, was it this week? | mac99 |
| why does it always go quiet after planning meetings, will someone pls ring and find out whats going on now, i can't bear to hear anymore disappointing news. | dodo |
I think from reading this forum that people are going to see what happens, which is good. I have not followed the property prices in Turkey, so I am taking it that their move into the EU in the coming years
is probably pushing up all the prices, as it did in the like of Bulgaria and Romania.
The reason we picked PV is that we have a small family and the thought of having a garden to let the kids run around (and burn off all that energy) against buying in a built up area where all the amenities are in place is the appeal to us. As well as this I do not mind driving to the like of Mordogan or Cesme, or even Izmir for that matter is not a problem.
BluePink: I hope you come back from your holidays with positive reports from all these areas and hopefully some pictures of PV “under construction” | mac99 |
Hi everyone,
I went out to see the PV sight July 2007, the weather was gorgeous, the sight fantastic it will be wonderful if it gets completed, there is the sea on three sides and the mountain behind you.
I also went to Mordogon just up the road 10 mins by car, a small but lovely village with enough things for everyone to do, plenty of restaurants
Cesme, i went to about 4yrs back and that too is a wonderful place, a big harbour plenty of restaurants and enough pubs and so on to keep you going, i never went to the beaches but they are reported to be amongst the best in Turkey. So i think the positioning of PV is within easy reach of these other options if people choose to visit them.
Everything we have is in this venture and although i've been tempted to pull out i cannot find anything else within the finances that we have, all our money is in escrow and we handed this over last July, naieve i think looking back. I too have looked at how quickly they have worked on the phase 2 development at Sunset Village looks very good. So i do not have much choice but to see were we go from here, i'm hoping that the meeting taking place at the moment is the last of the red tape wranglings and we can all move on and continue to dream of our wonderful holiday homes.
Try and stay positive everybody, stay in touch | pedro 175 |
solicitors, are liars and thiefs, once you enter into an agreement with them you should be aware you are going to be fleeced, (no solicitors on here i hope!!) on another note i have spoke to god today (Midas) and asked how the meeting had gone on Tuesday they told me they had been refused planning and that the whole thing was off and not to contact them again as they are running off with my money. (i can see the blood DRAINING FROM YOUR FACES) only kidding , sorry about that , you have to be light hearted otherwise you would go bonkers.
actually i only spoke to Marissa she stated that the meeting will last all week (glad i dont attend these meetings) she said they will know more roughly around next Tuesday , mmm we shall see, hang on in there guys i would go mad if i was in this on my own. | dodo |
Hi everyone,
We have been seriously considering pulling out too - very nearly did on several occasions but Midas seem to keep coming up with their reasons for the delay. As we have only paid our initial £500 deposit there doesn't seem any reason not to hang on, but this is definately the last chance. It was very concerning to note that anyone who does pull out is going to be charged a rip off amount of £950 by Midas reccommended solicitors as per Saabaero's mail, and as he quite rightly points out they have done nothing to justify this huge fee. We have only paid over £750 ( they did want more but we refusted) so are they going to try to get another £200 out of our deposit paid to Midas? Should the worst happen and PV not materiase, someone stands to make a big fat profit from all the 200+ lots of solicitors fees.
All in all, we were all aware of the risks when we signed up, but everyone has been more than patient and cannot be blamed for wanting to move on.
Anyone else have similar views?.

Hello
Answer to Mac99 - yes Ian has been to the site where PV will eventually be built. Yes at the moment it is scrubland, but is surrounded on 3 sides by the sea - all within a good stones throw from the villa's etc. Yes we are still going to keep on waiting. If we pull out now - it is nearly June and there would obviously be the whole process of buying another property and that would take forever as well. Also bearing in mind the property prices have increased a lot since we reserved our property and we would certainly have a problem finding anything comparable to PV and also would lose all our Solicitors fees, search fees etc. and would have to start again.
We went to to Kusadasi in April for a week this year - the weather was lovely but I would not want to be there on a long term basis, lots of traffic noise etc. lots of food places and bars but not very much entertainment if that is what you want - the property I would say is much much more expensive than PV if you take into account the pools etc. which Midas are to provide.
Yes - we are due in Turkey -Cesme this June - this was booked last year in preparation for going to our new apartment. We cannot cancel the flight now so have opted for another holiday in Turkey for 2 weeks in Cesme. Mordagan is a sleepy type fishing village with approximately 12 - 14 fish type restaurant (I will let anyone know what there is when I have been). It would appear to be 10 minutes from PV - assume this to be drive - and about 3 kilometres if walking but this is just a guess.
Bi M
No we are not on commission for Midas - but keep in personal contact with Midas to get as much up to date information as you require.
You would be doing this anyway if you were purchasing property in the UK and that also can be an absolute NIGHTMARE ..... | bluepink |
Glad to see that people are going to hand on and see what happens. I take it that some of you have been over on inspection trips.
I have never been to Turkey and I have been on Google, Google Earth and youtube trying to find out about the area, especially Mordogan. If anyone was on the Midas Inspection trip did you get a chance to check out Mordogan, Cesme or any other towns in the surrounding areas. From reading the Midas website I took Mordogan as a small sleepy town but from the searches I have seen it seems to be quite a big town, am I way off the mark? | mac99 |
| i would just like to let everybody know that we did pull out but today we recieved a cheque from the solicitors that midas advised ut to go with and they had deducted us 950 pounds for work they say they have already done which we are furious about as they have not had much to do seeing as there is not even any planning permission yet.we are getting on to midas about this as they were the ones who told us to send our contract to the solicitors as soon as we got back from our inspection trip when they should not have told us to do that and part with our money until they had plannng we are very upset as it is alot of money down the drain for something we dont believe was our fault as we just believed what midas kept telling us ant that it would all be sorted by january | saabaero |
| i have decided to hang on, i have nearly cancelled every day for the last 3 months, i have come this far,,just as long as we are told the truth i am learning how to live with the delays, i just think all the false promises have dented peoples confidence, i think midas have learnt this as well, thats why they are slow to pass on information to us before they can substantiate it., i have been looking at their web site and checking the build progress at sunset, this appears to be moving swiftly. | dodo |
| Ive paid my money over a long time ago and Im still in. I would hate to miss out on it now after waiting so long for something to happen. Did anyone hear the outcome of yesterdays meeting? kiki | kiki |
BluePink: Have you paid over any money to Midas yet?
Are there others who are going to hang on in to see what happens?
| mac99 |
Yes we got the letter. We are still in. We really want this to go ahead. We opted for April. We hope that Midas do not let the april deadline for completion any further.
M | bluepink |
| YES WE RECIEVED THE LETTER BUT WE HAVE ALREADY PULLED OUT AS WE CANNOT WAIT FOREVER | saabaero |
I received a letter from Midas stating that planning has changed from Izmir province to Mordogan province which will result in another delay. They said that the expectation is to have the green light by the 25th June as far as I recall.
Did anyone else receive a similar letter? | mac99 |
We to have decided to pull out after waiting so long, I am told another planning meeting is scheduled for the 20th May, hopefully this will bring you good news
Best of luck | Golden2 |
| we have decided to pull out and buy somewhere else as we are fed up with waiting and want something we can use now . Good luck everybody | saabaero |
I was onto the selling agent today in relation to the comments published stating that foreign people cannot purchase property.
They came back to me today and said that the Turkish government have sorted this out and this is now not an issue. I have emailed my Solicitor to confirm that this is correct as they have an office in Turkey. | mac99 |
I have just found this web site and I am totally confused as to this Development. The first time I have heard of this problem with foreigners buying property was 10 minutes ago reading this forum.
I have NOT handed any more over, thankfully due to the cost, location etc etc I am still keen on this property.
Does anyone have any information as to the current status as I have heard nothing from Midas except a mail I got early last month saying that permission will be sorted out my the end of April.
If anyone has any updated information I would apprecite it.
| mac99 |
| i take it this will mean no more movement on pv for several months | dodo |
HI All
I have emailed my lawyer in Bodrum and he has confirmed that foreigners have been temporarily stopped from buying property in Turkey, he is unable to tell me how long this is for until the new regulation has been passed, this also includes people who are in the process of waiting for their deeds.
Kind regards | andrea xx |
Turkish property sales to foreigners temporarily halted
Hurriyet English with wires, Wednesday, April 16, 2008 21:54
Turkish property sales to foreigners is to be temporarily halted from Wednesday, declared a Ministry of Public Works and Settlement inline with a Constitutional Court ruling three months ago. A new regulation was delivered to the Board of Ministers for approval. (UPDATED)
A new regulation regarding the sale of Turkish property to foreigners was delivered to the Board of Ministers for approval on Wednesday.
According to information obtained from ministry's officials, a circular letter on Tuesday was sent to all land registry offices indicating the end of the sale of real estate to foreigners.
The related verdict of the Constitutional Court will come into effect from Wednesday.
The law does not restrict foreigners who already own property in Turkey from selling it to Turkish Citizens.
we are still waiting for the retern of our deposit !! and are still intrested in the market.
this was taken from the house price crash forum, also keep up on sining pig both these foroums have run threds on midas/bafasim.
perhaps someone can ask there lawyer if this artical has any truth it may not afct purchase as midas wont handover and compleat till next year when there may not be a ban
good luck all | majika |
| Is it me, or has another deadline passed, i thought building was going to commence in April whatever, i wish Midas would just tell the truth instead of giving us dates they can't stick to time is running out for me i don't know how much more of this i can take. | dodo |
Going out to Cesme next week, will forward some pictures of the site, I am planning to meet up with Surdar again
Spoke to Midas this morning ref handing over payment to the Escrow account, they are just waiting for the agreed plans to be published, this should be within the next two weeks which means they will have all the necessary documentation they need to start the build
Hope this is the case finally | Golden2 |
apparently Midas were going to commence work no matter the waiting for the 1-5000 plan. Work is meant to commence some time this month, however there always seems to be a stumbling block some were. Apparently the 1-5000 plan is not as important as the 1-10000 plan as this was the actual zoning plan, i just want them to start work not just for me but everyone else involved.
P | pedro 175 |
| anybody spoken to midas since the 15/4 wasnt this the date given for the final planning, | dodo |
Hi there all. My funds are in escrow since last May, so I hope something positive and definate is going to happen fast or I will be withdrawing all my funds
Kiki | kiki |
| my funds have been in the escrow account since November!!! | dodo |
We are considering transferring this week I have asked a question about what will be built for April 09, plus what assurances can Midas provide to complete the whole site
I have also asked how many units have been sold in phases 1 & 2 | Golden2 |
Hi everyone,
Is anyone thinking of transferring their money into escrow now inlight of the latest information, and planning now being not to far off? (so we are told). Midas are now looking for funds and we just wondered what everyone was thinking.
| karstev |
| The preliminary purchase has a list of facilities that will be ready on completion, these include the restaurant, pools etc. | dodo |
Has anyone been told exactly what will be ready in April 09, plus where they are with the sales for phases 1 and 2
I am keen to go ahead but do worry about the company finshing the whole site, has anyone heard anymore about this
| Golden2 |
| We have also opted for April 2009, reason being new summer season, no winter maintenance charges and more infrastructure will be built. Good luck everyone that had faith in Midas | pedro 175 |
