It tells you all the docs you need Coda Fiscale etc. We're out around the 15th so we'll let you know how we get on with this . .yet another ordeal!!

Hi Everyone,
We got a decoder and Alberto is correct there are loads of channels but we could only get BBC World News, which is fine.
The reason for this is the satelite dish. The dish needs to point at the Astra Satelite to recieve SKY NEWS etc. Our decoder is set up to receive SKY from the Astra satelite, the programmes we recieve are from another satelite. Don't know if you can point the dish to the Astra satelite or if you need another dish.
Any ideas?
We are out there next week.

Hi Everyone, just a follow up note concerning Jabs comments about the tv sockets,
I can confirm that I set up a TV [19" LCD flat screen] in the lounge area, its attached to the roof sattelite dish.
if you attach this only with no decoder you will recieive around 5 or 6 channels maybe one or two more, all in Italian.
For those who want to see the odd football match, well Rai 1 scambel them.
I bought a small decoder, just plugs in, gets about 2000 channels from all over Europe and Asia, sadley there is only one or two english speaking channels, sky is scrambled.
But be wary if you put this decoder in and you have kids, there is quite a lot of soft porn on during the day and night, so be wary, I think you can block it on the remote.
Also when you buy a tv make surt it has more than 1 scart on the back, mine has only 1, so a problem when fitting a dvd player, the ideal tv is one with a built in dvd player and 2 extra scarts.
Alberto.

Hi everbody Allan here from block A. I will be out there in October 8th. - 15th so hope to meet a few more neighbours whilst there. Apparentley my deeds are waiting to be collected from Prendocasa ( we'll wait and see )
Just a note to anyone who is thinking of buying a television, The arial point in the bedrooms i for a standard socket ie) push fit using a terrestial digi box. this is what i bought with a television. The arial point in the lounge is for a sattelite digi box with a srew in type fitting to the arial point and to the back of the digi box. You can get an english channel BBC but all the others are Italian ( helps to learn the language )
I was reading the ITALIA magazine today and there is an article in from a leading lawyer practise stating that the Notary fees ar usually between 0.5 to 1 % of the turnover. Mine is working out at 2.356 % Anyone any ideas how we can approach the notary direct and ask exactly how much they charged for their services and also has the land registry be done and if so do we get a certificate saying we have paid 1000 euros
It seems we have all paid through the nose with nothing in writing to say what has been paid and for what
See you in October Allan | JAB |
| Hi everyone Allan here from Block A. I will be out ther in October | JAB |
Hi Alberto , Thanks for the info re ENEL. With regard to all meeting up (which i think is a fantastic idea) unfotunately we will be in Marinella 17th to 27 Sept and with no winter flights available i am not sure when we will be able to go out again!! I do feel that it would be good for us all to get together though, especially with regard to all the things that we all have to sort out like condominium rules etc who is responsible for what. ??????
WHAT DOES EVERYONE ELSE THINK ???
Regards finally | finally |
Hi There from Alberto,
To all the residents of Marinella and Sabia, I am thinking of organising a meeting next time I am in Italy which will be between 28th September - 17th October.
The agenda is is openly discuss with all residents on how we proceed with all the problems we have had during the last 2-3 years with G&L and the builders.
Is anyone interested, please let me know what dates you are in Italy and lets see if we can arrange some sort of forum, this would also be a great opportunity to make new friends and exchange advice and tips.
My mail address is albertovuotto@btopenworld.com
Home no is 01606 550464.

Hi everyone,
My wife and I will be visiting the Sabbia di Marinella development between Sept 28th and Oct 1st to see how things are progressing. If possible we'd like to meet up with any neighbours both from SM and Marinella Appartments. Please PM me if you are around.
Hoping to meet some of you soon. | tuedio1 |
| hi guys anyone know how long it takes after you order your furniture from Trony, do they phone you when it is in, and do they charge for storage. We were there for a couple of days in July and have ordered our kitchen and bedroom stuff. I think they told us about 6 weeks, but not sure if we have to contact them. also do you pay extra to have them assemble your furniture. was hoping to go in sept also but flights are quite expensive - and no more flights after 26 Oct. Just when it;s the bank hol weekend here in Ireland. Also anyone who might be interested in buying a parking space in block B. We were roped into buying it just to get the deal closed although our apt is in block A. If so contact Rafaelle in P.Casa. Hoep to meet some of you sometime. Laurien | laurinegr |
Hi Allan, WOW you got an answer from G&L !!! Who did you send the email to and did they say if the copy of the final contract was translated? I will have to ask G&L again what is happening with the driveway, with regard to the skiers, glad someone is getting some use out of it cos apart from that its no use to man or beast !
Look forward to your answer re G&L
thanks Allan | finally |
Hi lyn and paul nice to hear from you, i did not purchase a garage space so i am not involved with what's going on with the slope etc. i had a look last time i was there and there was some olympic skiers practising for the winter games, WHAT A SLOPE
Since arriving back i have been in touch with G&L via a snotty e-mail regarding the deeds and just got an E-Mail back saying my deeds are now definately 100% guaranteed at Prendocasa waiting for me to collect or they will post them if i want, Obviously as i do not want them posting or my apartment will end up being owned by somebody the other side of the world, why on earth would they get my address right
hope you enjoy september Allan | JAB |
Hi Allan & Donna
I think we met you Allan in july, we are Lyn & Paul who are in bloc B apt 1 first floor. Nice to hear from you. We too have had aircon put in especially after we experienced the tempretures in July ! There are two things that are bothering us 1, What ,if anything is happening about the drive down to the parking (we sent email to G&L following our last visit, but have not heared any thing back) I am wondering if you know anything ? 2, The deeds, we have also been to Prendocasa, but like you, no joy. Delighted you got some money back from G&L.Reading other web sites I am sure they are losing business, and have damaged their reputation. We are wondering if we have completed yet or did we complete when they said we did April in our case, we also paid 1000 euro for the property to be registered has this happened? It is hard to believe we are still in this position after all this time and still forking out money !!!
Fortunately we are delighted with our apartment, but totally agree about the unprofessional people we are having to deal with, they have given us all the problems that have marred the whole process,we are looking forward to the day when we do not have to deal with any of them anymore.!!!I It is the local people and especially Salvatore who restore your faith in Italian people.
We are going out again in Septomber for 10 days, cant wait.
Regards to all

Hi everbody. we are allan and donna from block A 1st.floor,apt. no. 4, it is the first time on thi site and having read all the comments about G+L I can only agree with everyone, I have just returned on Saturday,my wife is still there for another week. Regarding the electric supply we are all still on free supply, but whilst there i filled in my own forms for ENL using the phone and fax with the help of salvatori and it went through no problems,on returning home i got confirmation E-Mail from them saying the acount was openend , I opened a bank account in Vibo 12 months ago and have been using it with no problem drawing money out from Pizzo,vibo,tropea..if anyone wants details of the bank and the name of the guy who speaks perfect english i can supply them
I got my air conditioning fitted as soon as we arrived aug. 1st. it is absolutely great, they are a good make of equipment and it was fitted no problem. you certainley do need it this time of year, NB make sure you get heating and cooling system to be able to use in in winter
We bought all our furnitue from per sempre at Maida, the kitchen was fitted perfectly in one day and all the wardrobes assembled and positoned in the same day, we dealt with a guy called Alexi who was very helpful and with telephone calls and e-mails we did not have any problems
I have still not recieved my deeds ( final contract ) after going to prendocasa five times now so are about to start a real attempt to sort it out with G+L in this country, there must be a law society or something we can complain to. It was only when i told them i had taken legal advice regarding overcharging on the turnover fee that i received a credit note for £600-00 there quotation to me stated that all documents would be in english and italian so i am expecting this to be done when we finally get the deeds
what a pity the purchase of property i italy has been spoiled by unprofessional actions by uncaring people.. hope to meet some of you on my next visit in October

HI EVERYONE IS ANYONE PLANNING TO GO TO THEIR APARTMENT FOR THE NEW YEAR, WE THOUGH WE MIGHT. ALTHOUGH I DONT THINK IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO GO VIA LAMEZIA. BOOM | boomboom |
Hi all. Have just sent bank details to Prendocasa and told them we will give them the 100 euro when we visit in September. They already have our passport and codice fiscale details, they have emailed back to say thats ok. Does anyone know if we are going to get charged for connection by ENEL when it happens? I ,like others, thought that the money we paid earlier was to partly to cover this cost, anyone know any thing?
Regards Finally | finally |
Hello all again,
Just spoke to my family out in Italy. It seems that ENEL are the ones going to cut the power for the builder as they feel it is now too dangerous for them to use across the road to feed Phase 2, especially as people are now having electrical items fitted inc air condtioning which obviously take alot of power.
Hopefully ENEL wont do it this week but from the sound of things it will be very soon so for buyers to receive electricity they must register with ENEL very soon either via Prendocasa or direct.
Hope this helps | myjeanie |
has anyone recieved their deeds yet and is there a english translation ???.
Has anything been done with the car park slope, any info appreciated, we emailed giambrone in june and sent photos of the ramp. I take it we have to pay for setting up of direct debits for utilities through prendocasa unless anyone has any suggestions.
| dave f |
Not in anyway wishing to shoot the messinger AAAAAAGGGGGRRRRRRHHHHH !!
I knew this would happen! And YES it will be fantastic not to have to deal with these people in the future (soon i hope) My blood pressure will be through the roof again! (only joking i think! ) Don't fancy a trip to Vi bo so i will very reluctantly pay.
Thanks myjeanie for this prompt info your a star. | finally |
Hi all,
It seems we may all be over a barrel regarding the electricity and water regarding our 100 euro connection charges.
The builder is in the process this week of getting electricity cut off to our apartments and if we havent signed over the details required within the week, the buyers will have no power. This is first hand info from surveyor on site who told my dad today who is out there and who now will reluctantly pay for fear of having no power at all.
Wont it be nice to spend some time there one day with no problems !!
Good luck to all | myjeanie |
For info for those who had the emial re enel contracts, and the 100 euros charge, we spoke to another agent based in Pizzo last week about it, and apparently it is usual for the agent to sort out the initial setting up, as it has to be done in Vibo Valentia and the first bill must go to your address in italy. obviously its up to each of you to decide what is best for you but it is quite a lot of hastle to set it up yourself apparently. If you do decide to go to Vibo V and do it yourselves, you will need to take documentation showing your property details, and the numbers from your meter. hope this helps ?

Hi myjeanie, we went to Raffaele's office to collect our keys and deeds,we got all keys but were told that the deeds were in Vibo Valentia and would not be available untill a few days later. Alan ( block A) went to get his but but they were not ready so we decided to leave it till our next trip. Alan also asked to have his translated cos that is what he paid for. When we were going thro all our trials and tribulations(not over yet ) it was awful, but when you read that web page it makes you realise that we have been quite lucky compared to these people
What i would like to find out is if we did actualy completed on the day they said and when exactly did our money leave G&lLaccount!!! Were they just keeping us happy? Reading the comments on that site just reinforces my opinion that G&L are @?*&&%%%$£ make up your own words.
Regards finally | finally |
Has anyone received the deeds for their apartment yet ? I understand that they are easy to get hold of and can be printed off ten a penny but one would be nice !!
When I was last out in Italy in June after completing in April, I was told to go to Rafaeles office and they still hadnt arrived. What concerns me is why are they not being sent by our solicitors.
If anyone would like some interesting reading go to Vista Montana development via eyeonworldwide. I stumbled across it one day by accident. | myjeanie |
Hi All
Can anyone recommend a local car hire company. There is one in Briatico but I have lost the phone number if any one knows it that would be very helpful.

Hi Dersey ,There is an electricity supply at the apartments and our meters have just been put in but not functioning yet! As i understand it Raffaele is going to get our supply up and running but as far as billing is concerned, this has to be sorted. Neither i nor anyone else have been told how this will work ! I am sure though that we will find out when they are ready to tell us !! I will if not sorted find out more whwn i go in september I do want to pay my own bills though.
Regards Finally | finally |
Hi All,
Just wondering how we get electricity installed in the apartment. Do you know who we need to contact in order to set up bill payment.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated | dursey |
Hi Everyone, Just got back, Two and a half weeks flew by, did not want to come home!! The first week or so however was extreemly hot and humid 35 to 40 degrees! cooled down though to a more acceptable 30 ish. Well, we now have individual meters installed with our names on plus one other for the communal areas i assume, when we left however the power was not going thro them still so the developer was still paying for it (shame ) Apart from our kitchen needing alterations due to Pasquales cock up everything else was fine.We spent a small fortune on all the bits and bobs to finish off the apartment and are delighted with the end result. We met many of our neighbours too neumerous to mention but all lovely people, I will though mention Victor who did more miles once he got to Italy than he did getting there!! Bless! Lovely family. On a more serious note we to had a huge problem with the car park! We could not get down it never mind anything else Salvatori was there and witnessed it and told us that Peter was aware of the problems. We did see a man come and take a photo of the drive. We will of course be writting to G&L.We have decided as have several other people to put in aircon, Salvatori is arranging for this to be done in the next couple of weeks, before our son goes to stay begining of Sept. For anyone interested the cost is between 2 to 3 thousand euro depending on what sort of equipment you choose.
Alberto, obviously we have not met but i have lovingly looked after the orphaned plant you adopted and that duty is now going to be undertaken by Ray who is on the ground floor so he can reach it from his garden. I think you should give this communal plant a name and i'm sure between us we can keep it alive. (it has got some new shoots on it) I'm sure you can think of one.
Our next visit is september 17th cant wait! | finally |
Hi Nearlythere,
You need to get a message to your kitchen suppliers to go on to the Sabia building site oposite ours and ask for Pietro, [he's a mate of mine] Pietro has all the keys for both blocks and will let your guys in.
He hangs around outside the apartments in the morning between 08.00-10.00 sat in the car reading his new book on how to speak English.
Also one favour... I rescued a massive plant last time I was in Italy from one on the Italian residents, Its in the front area by the gate in Block 2, if anyone is out there in the next few weeks, an you let her have a drop of water please,
Also is anyone going out with a van in the next few weeks?
Alberto.

Hi everyone,
Im having trouble getting my kitchen finished off by the company I went with, its been going on for weeks now and Im hoping (!!??) that they will be there over the next few days/week to finish it off.
The only problem is that although they have a key to the building and a key to the apartment, they wont get into the gate as we have one of them too now, dont we !!! - so if anyone is out there in Block A next week and you see a couple of chaps trying to get into the gate, please could you let them in if they show you their other keys !! - bit difficult all this ordering and delivering lark when we are stuck in Blighty isnt it chaps !!!
regards to all and big hello to Alberto who we met earlier in the year,
Nearly there | nearlythere |
Hi Everyone,
Been back from Italy one week + now and must admit the apartments are great, had a good time once the cleaning was done, let me warn you, its a hell of a clean, 5 days and nights I was at it, [cleaning that is] made loads of Italian friends, beaches and sea was superb, Got most things done, kitchen should go in from Per Sempre in the next few days.
On a more serious note for those who booked car parks, I took the Alpa 147 I was driving, down the ramp, just to see first hand what the problem was, and I can tell you its a problem, the Alph bottemed out, sump grazing the concreate floor, I dont know what the answer is but you all need to inform the builders of the problem.
Message for Mandi, my mates David and Diane came down the beach one day to tell me about you, bit disapointed I missed you, they said you were a stunner!
Alberto.

Hello Laurinegr
We were out last weekend and got a key by phoning Rafaelle before we went and he sent an agent who let us in and had a measuring tape with him and was very very helpful. His number is 00390963395895. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

| hi guys we had a closing date for 30 June but it didnt happen unfortunately now we have booked to go there 7 - 11 july we booked into the B&B beside Marinella no problem. i asked Barbera in G&L if she can tell me where to pick up key so at least we can measur up for furniture etc, she says the builders on Marinella Sabia would give us one, can anyone confirm this, we don't want to go there in vain, and would like assurance that this is so, thanks all. | laurinegr |
Hi everyone we too have got a completion date at last. and we are planning to go down early August to sort out light fittings etc( any good ideas appreciated). we are looking to rent an apartment for a week so if anyones interested please email. I agree with you have been looking for flights for last few days and its not easy, my partner lives in wales and me in ireland , they are very costly to go to rome or naples and trains are not cheap either. and yea from cardiff to lamezia has 2 stops and take a day!! mad. we have closing date 30 June cant believe it finally! hope to go down the following week and collect keys hope we can stay there and live rough, wasn't my idea of a hol but hell waited soooooo long.. So far am planning to take ferry from Irl to Fishgard then travel by train or coach to Stanstead, and fly from there seems to be the cheapest option, don't know what we will do if Ryan Air stop flying. Will probably meet up soon take care bye for now.
LAurine | laurinegr |
| Ryanair WILL be flying Stansted to Lamezia over the winter, I believe on a Monday and Friday only until the end of February when their summer schedule begins again. I have heard the flight times are different and departure will be 16:50hrs. The reason they are not available to book yet are because the prices haven't been set. | karen_h |
| There is no flights after October because the airlines can't advertise their winter schedule till nearer the time. It's the same with all airlines except BA BMI etc, it will be ok. Does anyone have a mobile number for Rafielle? | karen_h |
Hi Everyone,
Yeh, i noticed you can't book flights after end of October direct from Stansted. Does anyone know if this is just for the winter or for good? Does anyone know of the realistic alternatives, connecting flights, trains etc as I've looked at connecting flights and it takes nearly a day to get there? Should have got an apartment in Sydney!
Also,
regards Boomboom | boomboom |
Hi mandi
The number for the agent Rafaelle is 00390963395895 ,We were able to see our apartement before we completed ,It is writen in the crontact you must see the property and you are happy before you sign, Hope everything works out with your morgage, We orgainised our furniture before signing ,It will take about 6 weeks after ordering to have it installed | dursey |
Hi All. I was supposed to complete on June 15th and on June 12th Karen from G&L wrote to tell me the bank I was getting my mortgage through (Macquarie) has been bought out and my application has been cancelled!!
I had already organised to come to Pizzo to furnish etc so am here in Pizzo, running around trying to organise a new mortgage etc. I have been to the property but obviously could not gain any access.
Just wanted to know if any of you are here and would let me look at your apartment just so I know what to expect as I go away on contract next week and will be at sea until October - so even if i close next week, I cant see my apartment until then.
Having also waited 2 years I am sure you can all appreciate how eager I am too look at the finished product! I have also written to G&L to ask for Vendor contact details so I can ask them but am not holding my breath for a reply!
I am in Pizzo until Tuesday 24th June and look forward to hearing from any of you. My local number +39 33 15 38 19 93
Thanks

Hello Everyone
Just got back from our apartment and yes Alberto is a star and a very nice guy for anyone who hasn't met him yet. Hello to Sandra and Keith (Mark) and Dad who we also met and they are also very nice people.
Now on a serious note we had trouble with the underground parking ie we advise you not to use it as Sandra explained to you in a previous message being our witness. We have been in touch with the solicitor Paola from Giambrone on this matter and she recommends that we all email her with our concerns giving her more power to pass on to the builders. We asked firstly for a refund as the parking is unusable as it is
Does anyone know anything about Ryanair stopping flights from end of October | feelgood |
Hi Karen
to open a bank in Italy you need passport fiscali nunber bill with your address ,it is not differcult. Launine ring prendocasa and ask them when are you compleating. We have completed at last .looking fordward to meeting you all | dursey |
Laurinegr
We are Anthony and Karen. We haven't completed yet but should do in the next 4/5 weeks. We are going to Mercatrone to get all we need in the one go next Friday 27th , after recommendation from others. We'll let you know how we get on. They will arrange for storage, delivery and fitting even if you're not there. There is no light fittings, plumbing etc but there are people on site that are reliable and inexpensive we've been told about. Pascale is taking the rip AT 6000, at Mercatrone it's 1000 plus approx 700 for appliances for a decent kitchen. That's for a 2 bedroom apt sized kitchen more than enough!! Feel free to e-mail us if there is anything you need to know we are in touch with people who have already moved in and had everything done. All very nice people. Have arranged to meet our new next door neighbours next week through this message board.
Good Luck
