Hi folks. I'm a purchaser in the MAG 218, living in Abu Dhabi and willing to share/exchange info with others. My last visit to site was 3 days ago (about 18 Oct '06). Work on piling is ongoing. Progress has been slow with piling contract awarded in Dec. '05. Work beginning on site around Mar. '06. Major excavation only getting underway in early Jul. '06.
Excavation is now complete, but piling still underway with 1/5 to 1/4 of the piling in place it seems. All being said, the work is behind schedule, but progressing. Consturction work on the foundation and podium will hopefully begin by year end. That will leave 24 months for completion of the 66-storey tower if current projections of end-2008 completion schedule is to be met. That would require completion of several floors per month, especially if time is to be given for interior and finishing out work. My hunch is a mid-2009 completion at best, assuming no major delays or setbacks from this point.
